In our early days, we shipped nodes without the blockchain – you performed the initial blockchain download (IBD) yourself. Pure verification, zero trust.
As the blockchain grew and hardware struggled to keep pace, we adapted. Like most in the industry, we began offering pre-synced versions to help users complete their sync faster. It worked, but it introduced a trust assumption we’ve never been entirely comfortable with.
